Objective

s360 wanted to remove white backgrounds across NiceHair’s product catalog images to be able to use product images in ads more creatively, ensure brand consistency, and increase campaign performance.

Solution

Using Smartly’s AI-powered background removal tool, s360 was able to remove white backgrounds from product images across a catalog of thousands of products, in all different shapes and sizes, in just a few clicks. After removing the backgrounds, s360 utilized Smartly's cleanup service to hand-review every result, ensuring perfect quality before any ads with AI-edited images went live.

The product images generated were used in Smartly Templates together with additional design elements like a golden background image and price field to create ads. With the backgrounds removed, the products fit seamlessly into the on-brand Template design.

s360 A/B tested the new images with the background removed against the originals with white backgrounds within the same template. The newly created images resulted in a 33% drop in Cost per Action (CPA), a 17% uplift in Click-Through Rate (CTR), and an impressive 43% increase in Return on Ad Spend (ROAS) compared to the business-as-usual images.

Background removal provided s360 with creative freedom, while Smartly Generation on Feeds enabled effortlessly scaling that freedom across thousands of products.
