Great ads move more than products. They move people. And when creativity sparks change, it should lead somewhere better. That’s why we tie our ambitions to global standards and hold ourselves accountable on everything from emissions to equity.
Corporate Responsibility and ESG at Smartly
Social media has the power to connect the world. Businesses have the responsibility to lead it. At Smartly, we’re committed to making a lasting impact for our people, our partners, and the planet.
In 2025, we took big steps forward preparing for the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and joining the UN Global Compact.
Translation: We’re serious about responsibility, transparency, and action.
Environment
We’re not just talking about net zero. We’re working toward it. Our target: cut greenhouse gas emissions 30% by 2030, in line with the Paris Agreement.
We measure our footprint annually under the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, with most of our impact coming from Scope 3 emissions such as travel, servers, and suppliers. Here’s how we’re making it happen:
- Cutting back on travel-related emissions
- Optimizing servers and extending equipment lifecycles
- Building sustainability into procurement decisions
Wherever possible, our offices and servers run on renewable energy. Our global waste policy pushes prevention, reuse, recycling, and responsible e-waste disposal. Together, these actions bring us closer to net zero.

Social Impact
As a UN Global Compact member, we focus where we can have the biggest lift: Climate Action, Quality Education, and Reduced Inequalities.
Our Social Impact Model guides the way:
- Engage: Smartlies volunteer their time and skills
- Empower: We back nonprofits with resources, sponsorships, and product benefits
- Elevate: We expand access to education and opportunity
Inside Smartly, 60+ nationalities come together. Our One Smartly initiative builds awareness and champions causes that matter.
We recruit with diversity in mind through our Diverse Slate Approach, support ERGs (Women at Smartly, LGBTQIA+, and Beyond Abilities), and act on bi-annual engagement survey feedback.
We’re proud to keep showing up on BuiltIn’s Best Places to Work list for several consecutive years.

Governance
We believe in doing business the right way, and integrity and transparency are non-negotiable. Our Global Code of Conduct covers human rights, equal opportunity, data protection, and environmental responsibility.
We back this up with:
- Strict anti-bribery, anti-corruption, and anti-money laundering policies
- A Customer and Vendor Code of Conduct
- ISO 27001 certification for information security
- Regular EcoVadis assessments
- An Enterprise Risk Management framework reviewed annually by leadership and our Board
ESG oversight is not a side project. It is embedded at the highest level, with board involvement and reporting aligned with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS).

Sustainable AI Everyday
AI is reshaping how we work. We believe it must also reshape how we think about responsibility. At Smartly, we keep sustainability front and center by:
- Choosing energy-efficient AI vendors
- Asking partners for transparency on emissions and training data
- Coaching Smartlies on smarter AI use and automation
The result: responsible AI that lowers our footprint and helps our customers run smarter, more sustainable advertising.
Looking Ahead
Our north star is simple: use our business as a force for good. That means lowering emissions, building inclusive workplaces, and holding ourselves and our partners to the highest standards. Social media has the power to connect the world. Businesses have the responsibility to lead it. At Smartly, we’re committed to making a lasting impact for our people, our partners, and the planet.
Technology, especially AI, is a powerful lever. We are embracing its potential while committing to use it responsibly and efficiently. That is how we will keep driving sustainability and innovation across Smartly and the wider ad tech ecosystem.
Policies
The Smartly Group expects all its employees and partners to follow the Smartly Code of Conduct, which represents the standards by which we all must operate.
